I think it might be best to have a trial period at first. Being able to suppress your visions until you're in a safe place to have them would be beneficial to your continued wellbeing.
I would recommend...trying a daily routine, for at least a week. Wear your earring during the day, or during periods of high activity. When you know you'll be resting, or not going anywhere, remove it.
This should also give you more time to prepare yourself for recording your visions after you have them, provided your powers don't do anything erratic. [ He's not sure how likely that is, though. Poor Toki. Seers really do get the worst of it. ]
