[ Ekkehardt generally keeps his trunk in his room, where it's least likely to be stumbled upon and have anyone ask difficult questions (that he doesn't particularly feel like answering, anyway). And because he spends little time in his room, he doesn't quite notice until some time later that it has an occupant.

Rather than flip open the lid immediately and ruin the fun, he settles down at his desk to read. ]

Hm. I wonder what that noise was.

[The mysterious noise had by then mysteriously stopped. How mysterious.]

[And in its place the lid gently rose about an inch. Just enough to take a peek if she was being watched, and quickly close it again.]

[Better efforts went into keeping the noise down as she continued to play with some of the artifacts.]
